Artist statement
I work in all scales and through a few different medias, and to a certain extent two different styles, I paint, draw and design in realism and abstract expressionism. I depict what’s there, right in front of me; my surroundings and what inevitably is in my mind. Whether that changes or alters what I view and what I produce, everything I view or produce most certainly interests me.
“Trying to establish an almost collection; my work works as a collection. It requires each other piece to work, imagine walking into a wooden panelled library, and there are all these wonderful shelves, beautifully crafted but only one book. My work is the books on the shelves, working together to give that aesthetic. Not to say each book isn’t a work in itself, it most certainly is. You open a book or look closely into one of my collection based pieces and you see more than what you knew you were going to or in some cases more than what you wanted to.”
My work though all does follow a strong theme; egocentricity, everything is highly personal and in someway includes me whether a portrait or not.
