Sarah-Jane Muskett
Sarah-Jane Muskett
Statement
Sarah-Jane Muskett worked for ten years as an art director and designer for the UK’s top magazines before returning to university to study fine art – a long-overdue ambition. She gained a place at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and developed increasing confidence as an artist, graduating in 2009 with a highly regarded final exhibition.
Sarah-Jane’s artwork reflects both her professional practice in magazine design and her earlier academic study of culture and society. She uses landscape, photography and typography mixed with graphic composition to make bold socio-political statements. At the core of her practice is a need to question and redefine the mythic utopian model of the American Dream, a model that large parts of the world still aspire to live by.
Sarah-Jane counts among her influences artist Ed Ruscha, photographer Robert Frank and musician Bruce Springsteen. She lives and works in London.
